Who are you?

Hi, I'm Keren Chelsea. I'm a twenty two year old poet living in the Philippines. I like windy days, coffee, and memes. I used to be a barista, but am now a full time student taking up Development Communication. All my favorite things are listed here. You can read more about me here.

What do you write?

I write about girls, about god, about God, and about love. I believe in the innate holiness of girls, in the beauty of girls loving girls, and in God. I'm constantly finding words on the tip of my tongue.

What is your religion?

I'm a Christian! For a long while, I was an agnostic. My earlier public work, around 2016-2017, revolve around the lack of God's presence in my life. I have since grown in my spiritual life, though I will admit there are so many questions I have yet to find answers for.

Writing advice?

Read. Write. Read some more. Then write again. I believe in the every day grind, in the beauty of keeping at a task until it is finished. For me, the best way to get better at writing is to just keep writing! Even on days when inspiration doesn't hit. Even on the days I feel heavy. Even on the days I don't feel like writing. There is power in keeping on when the going gets tough.

How do you make your chapbooks?

I make my digital chapbooks by writing the poems on a Word document. Once the writing and editing process is done, I focus on bringing the cover to life. I then add the cover photo onto the Word document, then export it as a PDF file. I either upload the file onto Google Drive, or onto Payhip!

For my handmade chapbooks, I used a template that allowed me to print the pages in a book format. I used high quality paper for the pages, and a paper of 200 GSM for the cover. Once everything is printed, I sew the chapbook together myself.
